Professors

The University of Klagenfurt has about 80 professors in different scientific areas. The following professors teach compulsory and advanced lectures in the field of information and communications engineering: 

Christian Bettstetter is an expert in wireless networking and self-organization in networked systems. He holds a doctoral degree in electrical and information engineering from TU München, Germany. He co-founded the information and communications engineering department in Klagenfurt in 2005. 

László Böszörményi is an expert in distributed multimedia systems. He holds a a doctoral degree in technical sciences from the Budapest Technical University (BME), Hungary. He was the co-founder of the institute of information technology in Klagenfurt.

Wilfried Elmenreich is an expert in smart grids, real-time systems, and self-organizing systems. He holds a doctoral degree in computer science from the Vienna University of Technology, Austria. 

Hermann Hellwagner is an expert on multimedia data communications and the future Internet. He holds a doctoral degree in computer science from the University of Linz, Austria. He was vice president of the Austrian National Science Fund (2013-16).

Johannes Huber is an expert in communications engineering and information and coding theory. He holds a doctoral degree from the Universität der Bundeswehr München, Germany. He is professor at University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and regular guest professor at the University of Klagenfurt. Huber is Fellow of the IEEE.

Kyandoghere Kyamakya is an expert in transportation informatics and nonlinear dynamics. He holds a doctoral degree in electrical engineering from the FernUniversität Hagen, Germany. He co-founded the information and communications engineering department in Klagenfurt in 2005. 

Bernhard Rinner is an expert in camera and sensor networks. He holds a doctoral degree in telematics from Graz University of Technology, Austria. 

Andrea Tonello is an expert in wireless and powerline communications and signal processing. He holds a doctor of research degree in telecommunications from the University of Padova, Italy.

Stephan Weiss is an expert in visual-inertial navigation for small aerial vehicles. He holds a doctoral degree in robotics from the ETH Zürich, Switzerland.

Hubert Zangl is a sensors and actuators expert. He holds a doctoral degree in telematics from the Graz University of Technology, Austria.

Associate Professors

Jean Chamberlain Chedjou works in dynamic systems, traffic telematics, and electronics. He holds doctoral degrees in electronics from the University of Yaoundé, Cameroon, and in electrical engineering and information technology from the Leibniz University of Hanover, Germany.

Mathias Lux focuses on multimedia retrieval and user intent in multimedia systems. He holds a doctoral degree in computer science from the University of Klagenfurt.

Klaus Schöffmann works on multimedia content analysis and human-computer-interaction with multimedia data. He holds a doctoral degree in computer science from the University of Klagenfurt.

Christian Timmerer is a researcher and teacher in multimedia communications, streaming, adaptation, and quality of experience. He is also CIO and head of research and standardization at Bitmovin. He received his doctoral degree in computer science from the University of Klagenfurt.
